Yunnan Branch Covering an area of about 22 hectares, Yunnan Branch is located at Jinghong city, Xishuangbanna prefecture, Yunnan province, mainly involved in the research of cultivation, introduction, conservation of germplasm resources of tropical and subtropical medicinal plants, as well as in exploitation, classification and utilization of Ethnomedicine and Ethnopharmacy. Over 50 species of tropical and subtropical medicinal plants have been introduced and cultivated from home and abroad in Yunnan Branch which has established close relationship with neighboring countries. The Branch has 600 species of living medicinal plants, and besides, it introduced successfully from overseas such 16 species of tropical and subtropical medicinal plants as clove and nutmeg etc, through which it has promote social and economic effects. Yunnan Branch is now making efforts for the research and utilization of tropical and subtropical medicinal plants in line with the development of tourism industry in Hainan province. So far, nearly 3000 species medicinal plants has been introduced and cultivated in Guangxi Branch (Guangxi Botanical Garden of Medicinal Plants), which currently has been the largest Botanic Garden of Medicinal Plants, and moreover, the Branch has been one of the most important scenic spots in Guangxi province.
